Butler Farms: A Winning Team
New scientific research finds that attending live sporting events improves a person’s level of well-being and reduces feelings of loneliness. This is significant because higher life satisfaction scores are associated with fewer health problems, successful aging, and lower mortality rates.
If you live at Butler Farms, a beautiful master-planned community right outside of Austin, you’re already scoring high on life satisfaction, with access to upscale amenities, scenic surroundings, and an active community lifestyle. Scoring some extra points by going to a game (or two) is easy when you live here. The Austin area is a mecca for winter and spring college and pro sports.
Here’s an impressive roster of some sporting events just minutes away!
Hook Em’ Horns
Football is king in Austin. So, what do Matthew McConaughey and CBS Sports have in common? Both are projecting that the Texas Longhorns will be in the college bowl playoffs. Many national media networks believe that Texas has the talent to do so, although they’ll have to navigate the rest of the season without star running back Jonathan Brooks, out with a torn ACL. No matter what, the rest of the season will have UT fans on the edge of their seats!
Play Like a Girl
Texas Longhorn’s Women’s Volleyball compete in the Big 12 division and has won four volleyball national championships. In 2022, Texas won its fourth national title by defeating San Diego 3–1 in the semis and then sweeping #1 seed Louisville 3–0 in the finals. Outside hitter Logan Eggleston was AVCA player of the year during the regular 2022 season and MVP of the 2022 NCAA volleyball tournament. The UT women are fierce competitors!
If you live in Butler Farms, top-flight volleyball is less than a half hour away. Come to the match and see them in action!
Bend it Like Beckham
Austin is home to Austin FC, also known as the “Verde and Black,” a professional men’s soccer club competing in the MLS as a member of the Western Conference. Austin FC is the first top-division major professional sports team in the Austin area.
You can watch them play at their Q2 stadium home field. If you attend a match, Verde and Black might make it a clean sheet, keeping the other team scoreless, with the support of their die-hard fans.
Barnburner
The Texas Stars are a Minor professional hockey team based in Cedar Park. They have been playing in the AHL from 2009 to 2024 and are the top affiliate of the NHL Dallas Stars. The Texas Stars play at the H-E-B Center.
Since Cedar Park is just minutes from Liberty Hill and Butler Farms, the next time they have the home-ice advantage, why not go to a barnburner of a game to see what all the buzz is about?
Slam Dunk
UT Men’s Basketball returns four rotational players (Brock Cunningham, Dylan Disu, Tyrese Hunter, and Dillon Mitchell) from 2022, Rodney Terry’s first season in Austin. Last year, the Longhorns posted an overall record of 29-9. The Horns play in the amazing Moody Center in the heart of the UT campus and if last year is any indication of things to come, 2023 will be an exciting season. Like they say, when you’re hot, you’re hot!
Last season, the UT Women’s Basketball team earned a Big 12 regular season championship for the first time since the 2003-04 season. This year, expectations run high thanks to the return of several great players. These include preseason Big 12 Player of the Year Rori Harmon, the team’s point guard, the accuracy of guard Shaylee Gonzales, the physicality of senior forward DeYona Gaston, and the addition of wing Madison Booker, the Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year and a top-15 recruit nationally.
Foolproof Formula for Fun
Racing enthusiasts are passionate about F1, from drivers and teams to racing fans. There’s always a sense of rivalry but there’s also a lot of respect for all the drivers and teams who participate. As exciting as it is to watch it on the big screen, it’s even better to attend a race at the Circuit of the Americas track, just outside of Austin. Gentlemen, start your engines!
The Scoreboard Tells the Tale
There are many factors contributing to increased life satisfaction scores, like work, quality of relationships, health, and well-being, and even the opportunity to attend live sporting events. Most importantly, the quality of a person’s residential environment – a home base – and a sense of community can substantially impact those numbers!
